Welcome all!
Derby Asterdale Hockey Club was
formed in the Summer of 1999 by the merging of Derby Hockey Club and
Spondon Hockey Club (previously British Celanese HC and Courtaulds
HC, for those with long memories). The name is taken from the
Asterdale Sports and Social Club (former home of Spondon HC) which
is now the home of the new club.
The club now runs
five Mens teams and
three Ladies teams on Saturdays, and a Mixed (friendly) team on
Sundays. Several of our players also play for other local Mixed
teams, particularly Chestnuts, Long Eaton and Rolls-Royce.
The Mens Fifth team is primarily for
juniors, so new players will be very welcome - and certain to get
some games.
The Ladies third team is also
primarily for juniors, and they also have occasional Sunday games
and will be entering the Junior Indoor Rally events (run at the
Lancaster Youth and Community Sports Centre) again this year.
